PENDING MEALS PARTNERSHIPS

There are restaurants who understand that those without the means to afford a warm meal, still deserve a warm meal. Our Pending Meals Program allows us to “Pre-Pay” for meals at partnering establishments and hand those meal cards out to our friends living on the street. Quick shout-out to our current long time Pending Meals Partner, Beggars Pizza!

Almost Home…

Almost Home Chicago has partnered with Beggars of Oak Lawn at 10240 Central Avenue (708) 499-0505 to provide hot meals for the area homeless and food insecure. A meal includes a jumbo slice of pizza and a pop.

To participate, you would tell them that you would like to purchase "x" amount of Almost Home Pending Meal vouchers. Each meal costs $5. Once a month, a member of the Almost Home team picks up the vouchers that have been paid for. We then pass them out at the local homeless shelter sites, to our friends on the streets and under the bridges, and to the families that we are working with.

We give our thanks and appreciation to Beggars for working with us to feed the hungry in our community. "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."
Mr. Rogers' mother gave her son those words of comfort many, many years ago.
They have become timeless.

Today, during this unprecedented time, all you have to do is look around you. There are so many helpers, doing the most beautiful work.

Mr. Jim from Beggars Pizza Oak Lawn is one of those helpers. From welcoming groups of children in for a tour of the facility, to feeding hundreds through the Pending Meal partnership they have with us at Almost Home, he is known throughout the community for having a kind, and giving, heart.

All of our friends are welcome in the dining room, and are treated with respect. It is something they are not used to, and it means the world to us.
The Pending Meal program continues to flourish.
Thank you, friend, for being one of the helpers. In good times and bad.
