We are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who stepped up to support our back to school initiative!

To our wonderful supporters who “adopted” a child for back to school, thank you for easing the financial burden and bringing huge smiles to our kids faces and to everyone who dropped off items for our school supplies drive: your generosity helped stock our shelves with everything our students need to succeed. A special shout out to the Girl Scouts from Troop 55857 from Palos Hills, thank you for your amazing energy and coming out and setting up our very own “little school supplies store “. Because of all of you, we have already been able to help 32 of our smallest friends get fully equipped with all their back to school supplies!💜

Our community gardens are thriving !

I can’t wait to harvest these fresh fruits and vegetables and get them into the hands of our friends at almost home. There’s nothing quite like the taste of homegrown produce, and we’re so grateful to be able to share with our community.💚

Happy Tuesday

Take a look at what our community has accomplished together recently:

Provided groceries for a mom and her three kids; stepped in to cook/purchase stone soup kitchen dinner when we didn’t have a scheduled food team; provided a place to rest, purchased blowup mattress for a mom and her children; filled over 20 bus cards and provided gas money for mom to get to a job interview; covered three phone bills for friends- 2 actively interviewing for jobs and one elderly friend, whose phone is his only link to the outside world; paid elderly friends storage unit, and ordered replacement part to fix a neighbours bicycle (their only source of transportation). So very grateful💙.

Growing with Gratitude🌱

It’s so amazing to look back at how far we’ve come, two years ago this journey started right in my own backyard where I set up a small garden to grow fresh food for our community. We also had other churches and neighbours who Dropped off goodies from their gardens for our friends. Last year, thanks to the wonderful Oaklawn Park District. We were able to transition into a bigger space at the Oaklawn community garden. To make things even better we have an absolutely massive thank you to send out to Home Depot in Chicago Ridge, they completely blew us away with an amazing donation of over 70 fruit and vegetable plants. From a few backyard dirt beds to a thriving community initiative I couldn’t be more thankful💚.

Monday Soup Kitchen!

We often hear it takes a village but here, it takes a family of compassionate volunteers to create this kind of love. Every Monday our building is transformed into a sanctuary of hope- a place where everyone belongs- and we simply couldn’t do it without you. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and food teams for making this possible💙.

A Massive Thank You to the Incredible Seniors from Marist Highschool!

These students jumped right in and tackled some of our most essential tasks with heart and hustle; organizing and labelling donations, assembling laundry kits, and spreading kindness; handwriting positive uplifting notes on the coffee cups for our soup kitchen and pantry guests. Thank you, Marist high school seniors for being the hands and feet of our mission today💕.

A big thank you to our incredible food teams!

Every week, these dedicated volunteers show up with more than just a meal- they bring kindness, dignity, and a warm smile. For many of our friends in the community, the dinner is the only hot meal they receive all week. We truly could not do this without YOU. We were also joined by a group of missionary students from the CRU Agape Center, who happily listened to many of our friends stories.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart💜
