Come on in.

Help starts with showing up.

We'll listen carefully and see how we can help.

Food. Practical assistance. Recovery support. Community care. Help that treats people like neighbors.

Real people. Real work. Right here in our community.

Since 2015

When life knocks you down, we’re here to help you stand back up.

Almost Home serves neighbors in Oak Lawn and the surrounding southwest suburbs. The work is practical and personal: a pantry bag, a hot meal, a bus card, help through an emergency, recovery support, or simply making sure someone knows they have not been forgotten.

Start where you are

We deal with the need in front of us.

We cannot solve every problem. Resources are limited, and sometimes we will not be able to provide the help someone needs. But we will listen, take the situation seriously, do what we can, and share additional resources.

Monday Dinner

A hot meal. A table. A little company.

Monday nights are one of the clearest examples of who Almost Home is.

TAKE A MONDAY →

Monday nights

We cook. We serve. We sit down and listen.

Someone pours coffee. Someone packs lunches for the next day. Someone makes room at the table.

From January 2026 through July 2026, 2,302 hot dinners were served. The number matters. So does the table.

Kindness carries.

Help should feel like help.

The goal is not to make somebody prove how hard things are. The goal is to understand what is happening and start taking the steps necessary to resolve the problem.

That is the tone we want in every interaction: sincere, practical, welcoming and respectful.

Trust matters
